I'm not a medical professional of any sort, and would be afraid to even speculate on how a woman's period might affect pituitary tumor symptoms.

Sorry I can't help. :(

The Dostinex/Cabergoline is the only treatment I had for the tumors (well, Bromocriptine early on, but just for a small about of time). Prior to going on Cabergoline I’d read that there was a chance it would lead to tumor shrinkage. I can’t recall if I’d read it was “a good chance” or a “small chance” of shrinkiage but I do remember that I’d always expected that the tumors were shrinking and I wasn’t terribly surprised that they had.

Hi Delmer,
Thanks for keeping the pituitary tumor blog going. Not to mention WADLL, which almost always makes me smile.

Last Fall my new doc noticed my testosterone was a little high (for about a year I'd been reduced to 1 Androgel packet, 5 gm, per day) so we decided to reduce again to 1 packet every other day. Also reduced cabergoline to .5 mg every other day, instead of 1 mg every 3 days. So far I feel fine, maybe a little more mellow. I'm only blood-tested/MRI'ed annually so I won't know the effect on testosterone and prolactin till this Fall.

I noticed that even though you had two tumors on the pituitary gland, you never mentioned surgery. Was the medication all that was done for your situation? If so, was that all that was required for your situation?

I am in the midst of going through this process and my MRI is in one week.

Thanks for your well told story with good humor.

Hi there, I am very interested in your blog as I had a pituitary tumour causing me cushings disease. I had the tumour removed via transphenoidal surgery (nasal) but now my pituitary gland no longer works. I hope to stimulate some doctors here in the UK to help people with my problem and 6 yrs after surgery have managed to get further referrals to a chronic fatigue specialist and a neurologist. I have had all replacement hormone therapy including growth hormone injections but still experience fatigue, apathy and weakness every day - but I refuse to submit to this and I know there is help out there! I wish you every success and hope your blog helps others too. x
